Role
As a data scientist in Caspian you are expected to be involved in technical decisions within the projects your involved and working towards continuously widening your knowledge base.
The role involves:
- Ensuring the provision of clear agile stories to company standard to deliver agreed product Epics
- Researching state of the art technology and approaches to help find solutions to data driven problems
- Developing a wide range of skills at the cutting edge of data science
- Developing production level code
- Ability to implement papers relating to recent state of the art developments
- Helping to design the production level solution by being proactive and highlighting any design flaws at all levels
- Supporting team members by reviewing their work and guiding them to methods/approaches that will help them in their tasks
- Delivering production code in collaboration with DS team members and the development team in time and to expected quality levels
- Identifying useful technical trends to solve everyday problems
- Presenting work to both internal and external audiences
- Having a good understanding of the roles and duties within a scrum team within an Agile framework
- Assisting and contributing to sprint planning sessions
- Client engagement at an implementation level in support of the Caspian project lead
- Gaining broad financial services domain and business understanding
Required
- Strong programming skills in python or R
- Good background knowledge in machine learning and statistical data analysis
- Understanding of key topic areas: Natural Language Processing, Bayesian Learning, Deep Learning
- Experience in a machine learning framework: e.g. Tensorflow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn or other
- Good mathematical background
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to work under pressure, take accountability and meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and proactive with good team-work skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good knowledge of code management tools, e.g. Git
Beneficial
- Strong background in statistics and Linear Algebra
- Good understanding of Agile software development
- Participation in open source libraries
- Published scientific papers
